Children's Claritin Playmaker Playdate

Disclosure: I was provided a Playmaker Playdate Kit in exchange for sharing about Children's Claritin.

How has your summer been? Allergies getting to you? In the midwest, we thought we were going to have a little allergy break--nope, we were wrong. It's been a strong pollen summer and cooler temps have meant more regional plant pollen. How do we handle seasonal allergies with Children's Claritin for our kids. Once a day and non-drowsy formula helps reduce the effects of allergens.

I was excited to be able to host a Children's Claritin Playmaker Playdate. We got these cute bags from Children's Claritin with a notepad (magnetic for my fridge) and coupons to use. The bag is ingenious. You tuck it into the corner and it has a pull cord to keep it tiny and small. I toss it into my purse, beach bag or the car when we're heading out. If clothes/shoes get dirty or sandy, I can toss them in the bag. Or if the kids find treasures to bring home, we've got a handy bag for them.

For our playdate, we combined a fun water day with talking about Children's Claritin. Did a giant water fight and let the kids bring their squirt guns and other water toys. Lots of fun in the sun, lots of water, and lots of smiles.

All in all, we had an amazing time. And all the coupons were taken by moms wanting to try out Children's Claritin for themselves. And best of all, a great water play date.

Back to School in Style #Sweepstakes #Giveaway

Welcome to the Back to School in Style Sweepstakes

Mom Powered Media wants to show you how much education means to us and the future of our wee ones and are personally sponsoring a Target and American Eagle Gift Card!

I don't know about you, but where I live, we are full swing in "Back to School" mode. We're getting backpacks filled, tissues and hand sanitizer purchased and working on the...gulp...dreaded back to school shopping with a pre-teen and teenaged boy (and a girl who adores trying on every piece of clothing in sight). There are some amazing companies listed here for both clothing and gear for kids. I have a special place in my heart for Gymboree (even though 2 of my 3 have outgrown even their biggest sizes). My kids were all Gymboree kids. The clothing held up wash after wash, was coordinated and just darn tootin' cute.

I have also had good experiences with Ibiley uniforms. While we don't have uniforms at our school, I've picked up some Ibiley pants at consignment sales and they hold up--especially the knees of the pants for boys. Moms of boys, I know you understand.

My other shout out goes to the Tea Collection. I've only had a few of their pieces, but I love the whimsy and the fun patterns. I look forward to getting more from them in the future.

The other companies are ones I haven't had experience with, but friends of mine have. All of them come highly recommended and in exploring their sites, there is a treasure of cool gear, cute--and handsome--clothing and a lot of good stuff to be discovered.

Persecuted Book Review and #Giveaway

Persecuted by Robin Parrish was an enthralling read. I am not usually into political thrillers, but this one is so plausible that I was drawn in from the first page and couldn't put it down until the very end. There are so many pieces of this book that are familiar as things happening in current news media. But the way Robin Parrish weaves the details together totally blew my mind. He makes reality and fiction combine into a powerful story where corruption is ruling the day and nobody realizes it.

John Luther could be any one of us. We've all done things that we regret, things we wish we wouldn't have done. His past may be filled with deeper regrets like drugs and alcohol, but I could empathize with wanting to leave some things from your past in the past. When he is framed for murder and has to go on the run, I'm amazed at how well he is able to do so. From that moment onward, I was compelled to keep reading. And now, the film of "Persecuted" has opened in theaters. I'm looking forward to seeing it live on the big screen.
About the book:The Question Is Not IF Attempts Will Be Made to Limit Religious Freedoms, But WhenJohn Luther, simply wants to share the Gospel and enjoy a quiet life with his family. He never asked to be at the center of a political controversy, but an ill wind has been blowing through the halls of Congress, and supporters of a new religious-equality bill see Luther's endorsement as critical.  When Luther refuses to lend his support, he unknowingly sets in motion an explosive plan bent on destroying his reputation and undermining everything for which he stands. His once-normal life is turned upside down as he becomes a fugitive left with only one dangerous option--putting everything he holds most dear at risk while he fights to expose the truth. It is a mission that brings him face-to-face with the coming storm of persecution that could threaten the very fabric of our nation's freedoms.
Buzz about the film:

"Bringing the battle of FREE SPEECH to light." FoxNews
"House of Cards for the religious sect." - POLITICO
"A big thumbs-up." - American Family Association

As a child of the late 60's/early 70's, I have a special place in my heart for Marlo Thomas. I grew up watching the "Free to be  You and Me" special on TV and when I was in high school, we also did a show using much of the TV special for the stage. And now Marlo is back and appealing to me as an adult. I love the idea of learning about women who realize their dreams--no matter what their age. I haven't gotten my copy of this book yet, but I can't wait to read it. I expect I will be inspired. Keep reading for your chance to enter and win a copy for yourself.

Papio Fun Park Review - 2014 Summer Fun

I was provided with free passes in exchange for my review.

What's more fun than a barrel of monkeys? My family of monkeys thinks Papio Fun Park is barrels of fun. The excitement starts from the moment we pull up. You can see the go karts racing. And you know you'll be in them soon. Then as you walk inside, you hear the kids jumping on the jump shot and in the space ball (trampoline games). You can see the excitement building on all of my kids faces (including the big kid - my husband).

Need Mom? Look for her on the Go Karts.

We are so happy that we had a chance to try out the Extreme wristband. For one low price, you get unlimited go karts, miniature golf, laser tag, space shot, jump shot and water wars. We added up all that we did on our extreme wristbands and if we would have purchased everything individually, it would have cost more than the wristbands. The go karts are my favorite and I rode 6 times. Would have been 7 if the kids wouldn't have caught me sneaking in 'just one more time'.

Fun on the golf course.

Extreme wristbands are an awesome way to have all of the fun for a low price, but did you know that Wednesdays throughout summer are $12 Extreme wristband day? AND--Extreme wristbands are 1/2 price after 6:00 p.m.

EVEN BETTER--with an exclusive special offer through US Family Guide, all of Coolestmommy's readers get BOGO wristbands. Click here to get your Buy One Wristband, Get One Free at Papio Fun Park.

Rebekah loves Water Wars
So does Nathan (Andrew prefers not to be photographed but he loves it, too.)

Three piece Fresh Fruit Bowl #Giveaway

10463987_10152171027888848_1045894496375442039_n

Coolestmommy's Coolest Thoughts is pleased to offer this giveaway which is hosted by Tammie's Reviews, Giveaways and More and sponsored by Good Cook. The 3 piece Fresh Fruit Bowl is only available from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I love fresh fruit and find I eat so much better if I keep fresh fruit on hand. I don't know about you, but when I purchase watermelons or other melons, I have trouble keeping them fresh long enough to eat all of them. I often have to toss the last of the melons because it got gross or spoiled before our family could eat all of it. So finding out about this bowl is incredible. I can't wait to go purchase and try it for myself.

From Tammie: Summer is here and for me that means cookouts, vacations and fresh fruit. I love all things fresh fruit. I do not thing there is a kind of fresh fruit that I would not eat. I love to visit my Mother-In-Law as she always has a bowl of fruit salad in her fridge. I have noticed that the fresh cut fruit started to taste funny- soggy and old. I do not know if you know what I am talking about but I was just introduced to a 3-piece fresh fruit bowl that I can only describe it as amazing. It keeps watermelon and cut fruit fresher longer. The 3 -piece fresh fruit bowl comes with a large bowl that sits in another bowl that collects the liquid from the first bowl and a lid. This product is only available at Bed Bath and Beyond.

On to The Giveaway~

How far does the apple fall from the tree? July #SensoryHop

Do you have a sensory kiddo? My son with autism has some special sensory needs, but I know my other son and daughter also have their own sensory needs. And where does that come from? I'd say I know that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

It came up (again) recently. I don't like a lot of noise. Can I put that out there? If it's a group of women and we all talk at once, that doesn't bother me. But put that TV on and leave it turned on for hours and you'll find me with a raging headache (and a raging attitude to go with it). I lament to my children and husband all the time, "Why do you have to keep the volume at 14...it should NEVER be above a 12." They laugh at me because truthfully...they would prefer a 16-18 on the TV but they know my eyes would bug out of my head and it would spin in circles.

Same thing happens with the radio in the car. Why don't people just leave my radio alone? Everyone should know that the proper setting is volume 6 in city, volume 8 on the highway. And yet, they start sneaking it up a notch at a time until we're at a 10 or 12...and my head is spinning and I'm popping aspirin like there's no tomorrow.

I can't explain it to you. I wish I could. We've always noticed with Nathan's noise issues that if he is a part of the noise, it can be ear splitting loud and won't bother him. But rattle a paper while he's studying and he might bite your head off. When he wants it quiet, it better be totally silent. And if we're in a group of women where everyone is talking at once, he can't take it. Happened once at a Dave & Busters. We were at a party and there were conversations at several tables in the party room. He couldn't handle the noise and begged to go wander around the games in the game room...where the physical sound was several times louder. Eventually, we figured out that a lot of this is because you don't have to pay attention to any of the gameroom noise while conversations should be followed.

I find it interesting that Nathan and my noise sensitivities are different from each other. I prefer lots of conversation noise and not general noise. Nathan prefers general noise and less conversation.

What kind of sensory quirks are found in your home?

Ragamuffin DVD Review and #Giveaway

I received a copy of this DVD in exchange for my review.

Do you know who Rich Mullins is? If you've ever sung the song "Awesome God," then you've sung a Rich Mullins song. He was an amazing songwriter whose message of God's love touched many people. Yet, he walked away from the spotlight, and even so, he is still one of the most popular songwriters today. He may be gone from this earth, but his songs live on.

The DVD Ragamuffin is a tribute movie to Rich Mullins and his life and testimony. For someone to walk away from his career, his fame and fortune, while at the top is totally unheard of. Yet he did so. He stayed true to himself and to his God whom he so desperately sought to know more and to love deeper. I had a chance to preview the movie and I can't describe how beautiful it is. It's honest and will move you no matter what your faith background is. Ragamuffin will be released tomorrow and the soundtrack will be released on July 22. I'm looking forward to hearing two never-before released songs sung by Rich Mullins.

Please see my giveaway below to enter to win a copy of Ragamuffin, but you can also purchase your copy online. And consider purchasing another copy for a friend or family member who is also a ragamuffin like Rich Mullins was.

About the film:
RAGAMUFFIN is based on the life of Rich Mullins, a musical prodigy who rose to Christian music fame and fortune only to walk away and live on a Navajo reservation. An artistic genius, raised on a tree farm in Indiana by a callous father, Rich wrestled all of his life with the brokenness and crippling insecurity born of his childhood. A lover of Jesus and a rebel in the church, Rich refused to let his struggles with his own darkness tear him away from a God he was determined to love. As he struggled with success in Nashville and depression in Wichita, Rich desired most of all to live a life of honest and reckless faith amidst a culture of religion and conformity.

Would you like to win a copy?
