Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there.

We had an unusual Mother's Day at our home. Yesterday, Nathan went to the couch after lunch and almost fell asleep. Very strange for our jumping bean. Then something upset him and he went off the deep end crying which is when we started hugging him and realizing he was burning up. His temp was a 102.4, but came down right away with Tylenol. He didn't complain of any other symptoms and by evening, he had a low-grade 99 temp. Let him sleep it out hoping it would be done today. This morning, still a low-grade 99. I knew he was hungry, but wouldn't eat anything. At lunch he ate quite a bit of food, but was still 'off'. Sean & I looked in his throat and decided to go to...

I took Nathan to Urgent Care and left Sean with his dad (who is visiting) and the other kids at home. When we went to check in, the nurse looked at Nathan smiling and running to play and asked me why we were there. He's like a car that way---looks great when we take him in. However, the doctor checked ears, tummy and throat. He said the red, swollen throat was the problem and some medication might help. We put him on Amoxicillin and tonight he's doing much better. I know he's going to feel much better by morning. He fell asleep around 8 tonight on the floor in the living room. Poor kid was just tuckered out.

Tomorrow I'm leaving Sean home with Rebekah (and maybe Nathan if he isn't up to school) so I can join Andrew on his field trip. It will be an incredibly long day, but should be a lot of fun, too.

Hoping everyone else's mother's day was less eventful--and a little more fun--than ours. I don't need a big fancy deal, but I hate it when one of the kids doesn't feel well. I did get to go back to bed this morning after the family cooked breakfast for me. I rested while they cooked (Rebekah started my mother's day at 6am) and afterwards, I was out cold for over an hour. I got a wonderful cookbook with Nathan and his classmates favorite recipes. I'll have to post his recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies. Andrew created a coupon book for me and it is obvious he thought about it and really picked things for ME. I had a wonderful day, in spite of my sweet Nathan feeling a little crummy.
